NWiR Day Session: “Roofing is… Technical Expertise” with Katie Bicksler

As a woman in the industry we do not receive all of the same opportunities that men do to increase our technical knowledge. Participating in hands on demonstrations or doing roof walks are not everyday practices that are brought to our attention. We need to create our own opportunities – we need to seek out educational information and trainings and we need to push to become included and involved. As someone that has been in the roofing industry for 15 years and has moved from a marketing role to an outside sales/technical role – I know how hard it can be to not only learn the “roofing talk” but to then be taken seriously when in the field or when presenting to a room of architects. I have tips and tricks of how to learn more about the ins and outs of roofing as woman in this industry that I would love to share with other women in the industry.

Katie Bicksler has a Bachelor’s Degree from Virginia Tech.

Her experience includes 15 years in the roofing industry, 11 of which were at Carlisle Construction Materials in Marketing and Inside Sales. For the past 4 years, Katie has been an Outside Sales Representative for Commercial Roofing Solutions, representing companies like Carlisle SynTec, Hunter Panels and Karnak.

Katie is a member of CSI, she started the NWIR Central Pennsylvania Chapter and was a Board Member for the NWIR Mentorship Committee.
