Connecting the Dots: Combating Human Trafficking through Transportation and Logistics

Tuesday, July 15, 2025
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (CDT)

Event Details

Every day along our nation's highways, people--including our nation's children--are forced to sell sex as victims of human trafficking at truck stops, rest areas, hotels/motels, and other locations. We know that every day, members of the transportation industry are in these same places ... and in a position to make a difference. Drivers have now made thousands of calls to the national hotline and local law enforcement and have helped to identify countless victims of human trafficking across North America, thanks to knowing the signs. Building on the Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability movements, and leveraging purchasing power, Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) is utilizing pre-existing relationships between manufacturers/shippers and their carriers to spread the word about this important work and train more transportation professionals. Through systems change and engaging bystander intervention, TAT is raising up a mobile army of people that are able to recognize and report human trafficking, leading to the recovery of victims and arrest of their perpetrators.

Join us to learn how you can empower your own workforce, use your supply chain to effect change and help aid law enforcement in the discovery and disruption of human trafficking networks across North America. Laura Cyrus, senior director of industry training and outreach at TAT, will help us understand human trafficking, explain more about TAT and the free educational materials they provide, and share about the difference suppliers and carriers can make in the fight against trafficking. Each of us can help drive change and be a part of the solution.
