Last month, the roofing industry played catch-up on in-person events. With IIBEC, Best of Success, RoofCon and the Western States Conference in Las Vegas where National Women in Roofing held our Networking and Mentorship reception around Workplace Conflict De-Escalation. Francine Campos from National Roofing Company and Matt Hollar from Owens Corning gave us their time and expertise to go over real-world scenarios and techniques to use in the workplace.
Due to the pandemic, this was the first in-person WRE since 2019 and was held at the Mirage. The dates have also changed, so in the future, you will find WRE in September rather than June on the calendar. The show floor was jam-packed with vendors showing all their latest and greatest innovations and the educational component was amazing as well.
Trent Cotney, our association’s legal counsel, from Cotney Attorneys and Consultants, did a seminar on the history of roofing. I also attended the Legislative Luncheon and came away with a lot of high-level information on what is happening in the “other” Washington and how some of this legislation will affect our businesses at the local level. This was presented by Reid Ribble CEO of the NRCA and Craig Brightup from The Brightup Group.
