In quintessential celebrations of the season;  a cool summer libation was in hand at both the June and July New Jersey Council gatherings, each focusing on networking and connection.

On June 23rd, the group got together at Autodiadect, a brand-new microbrewery in Morris Plains. Since the Jersey Council loves learning,  Co-owner Ronnie  Scouten not only shared the secrets of how to make a tasty brew as we toured the establishment, but he also shared some valuable lessons in entrepreneurship. Insights for budding new business owners and corporate employees to plan, work hard, and be resilient, because things don’t always go as planned.

Hoboken, NJ isn’t just the home of the Wafflecone, The Cake Boss, and Frank Sinatra. On July 20th, City Bistro was the gathering spot for a joint meeting of the NJ and NYC NWiR Councils. Members, allies, and friends of the councils came from across the garden state and the river to network, catch up and connect. National Chair, Jennifer Keegan, joined for the evening and joint hostesses New Jersey Council Vice Chair, Wendy Lucas, together with Jessica Alzate of the NY City Council, welcomed the packed room. Conversations ranged from weddings to weep holes, from tapered insulation to time away with family. New connections, first-time face-to-face meetings, and old friends catching up were in equal share throughout the evening.

As always, thank you to our council Silver sponsors McQ Sales, LLC and CapitolRoofing and to GAF for June’s spectacular noshes. Keep your eyes out for the August invite, a return of our yearly favorite, An Evening with Vinnie Mootz. Make your own fresh mozzarella (a New Jersey rite of passage) this year with a council building raffle to display your newly acquired cheese expertise!
