At this time of the year when we give thanks to those who openly provide compassion, strength, and assistance to those emotionally in need. NWiR SoCal supported the great work of the Suicide Prevention organization of Ventura County in their annual Out of the Dark fundraiser on September 23.
NWiR SoCal Council’s Team I’ve Got Soul raised a total $5235.00 with $3740.00 coming from Council generated donations to support suicide prevention .
The 3k event began with speakers of survivors who had attempted and families who lost a loved one to suicide. A symbolic bead ceremony followed with a specific meaning attached to each bead color worn by each participating walker. Tears of sorrow and of compassion flowed openly throughout the crowd.
It was an indeed emotional day but also brought happiness to those who came to know and feel that they are not alone!
