We are so excited to share some of the awesome presenters for NWiR Day 2021:

“Roofing is…Building Council Membership” with Ellen Thorp

The task of finding potential members may seem daunting, but between NWiR resources, a little sleuthing, some easy-to-use tech tools, and activating connections and colleagues attendees will be on their way to building a robust membership roster in no time. Attendees will leave with four specific methods to reach potential council members. This session is open to current council leaders or to those thinking about starting a council.

Ellen Breipohl Thorp, M.A., CAE, serves as the Executive Director of National Women in Roofing.
Ellen knows that powerful things happen when people who share a common interest come together for advocacy, education, and communication. In addition to providing leadership and advocacy work for other construction-related trade associations for the past eleven years, Ellen was the inaugural staff member for NWiR. Along with the Board of Directors and other staff, Ellen has provided leadership to grow the association to 1500 members, over 35 sponsors, and programs that have engaged thousands of people. In addition to association leadership, Ellen has experience working in university administration. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in education policy, and has earned the rigorous Certified Association Executive designation.
After spending 22 years in Washington, D.C. working for associations and educational institutions, Ellen and her family now live in the Denver area. They escape on the weekends to the Rocky Mountains where they have an off the grid cabin on the edge of the San Isabel National Forest.
