Wrapping up the year with holiday cheer was the tone for the last yearly meeting of the Northern NJ Council, held Wednesday, December 15th at the Grand Saloon in Clifton, NJ.
The ladies gathered together over a delicious meal, and drinks as they looked back at the accomplishments of 2021. Despite the pandemic and another year of primarily virtual get-togethers, the council managed to achieve their goals including;
• 12 meaningful meetings with a rich mix of content allowing for networking, some fun, and opportunities to learn about everything from unconscious bias to personal finances, to our favorite topic, roofing!
• Active collaboration with the NWiR national programs and even other industry associations (GAF WISE) devoted to the needs of women.
• Outstanding achievements including:
o Council with the most World Award nominees
o Finalist in the Rising Star Award, Erica Sherman
o Winner of the World Award, Christine Mockenhaupt
The NJ council abides by a 2- year term policy which allows the opportunity for all to gain experience and develop leadership skills. Lynn Picone Council Chair since 2020 transitions to board member and Erica Sherman, current Vice-Chair elevates to take on the Council Chair position and Wendy Lucas elevates to Vice-Chair.
Culminating our Season of Gratitude campaign and a highlight of the evening, the overflowing table of holiday donations for the Center for Hope and Safety Domestic Violence Shelter, arriving just in time to make Christmas a little brighter for those less fortunate. To all those who gave so generously, thank you. The evening closed out with a classic white elephant gift exchange filled with laughs and fun.
