June was a big month for the Northern Colorado & Denver Council, and we were proud to host a member meeting that reached across the nation! On June 22nd, our meeting was honored to host these renowned women in our local market:

– Member spotlight – Beacon’s 2021 Female Roofing Professional of The Year WINNER, Stephanie Pouse of Brahma Roofing and Construction
Stephanie shared how she found her way to roofing after growing up in the “take your daughter to work day” era and always choosing to go with her father to his construction sites. Stephanie also shared a little about her experience being a nominee of her most recent award. Stephanie’s enthusiastic energy lit up the room and we are so excited to have her as part of our Colorado Council.

– “Managing the Unexpected & Proactive Planning to Finish 2021 Strong” – A panel conversation with representatives from each sector of our industry.
We were so fortunate to have Jennifer Ford-Smith of Johns Manville, Anna Poe of Gulf Eagle Supply, and Suzie Boyd of Academy Roofing Inc. represent manufacturing, distribution, and contracting on our panel. The conversation was moderated by Lee Lipniskis, who guided the conversation through the events that have landed us in the current industry situation and the best ways to prepare for the coming months. Hard questions were asked and honest answers were given by all panelists. Throughout the conversation, there were some consistent solutions and key takeaways, (1) communication, (2) community and working together even when it may mean reaching out to a competitor, (3) thinking out of the box for untraditional solutions, like offering a temporary roof to your client when the material is delayed, and so many more!

This meeting was held in a hybrid format (in person and via webinar) with over 35 attendees, and many out-of-state attendees online. The webinar was recorded and will be available for circulation in the coming weeks. Colorado is proud of the amazing women in our market and the loud impact they are having on our industry.
