Outgoing Chair, Erica Sherman, and incoming Chair, Wendy Lucas, shared the hosting responsibilities as the Northern New Jersey Council gathered to celebrate the holidays at Mario’s Restaurant in Clifton, New Jersey.
As is our holiday tradition, the evening began with a recap of the year’s activities and alignment with National NWiR pillars; mentoring, education, networking, and recruiting. A Jersey holiday party wouldn’t be complete without a tremendously competitive white elephant swap and a generous donation to the Center for Hope and Safety domestic violence shelter
Erica recapped some of the year’s highlights including; the hands on modified class held at PB Roofing, the visit to the local roofing union hall, our “Meet the Mentors” panel as well as a virtual meeting that started off the year with visualization techniques for making 2023 our best year ever.
Throughout the year there was lots of time to network and enjoy as well, with the joint New York City Council happy hour, women’s habitat build and our favorite yearly get together, making homemade mozzarella with Vinnie Mootz!
Wendy led the group in applause for Erica in her 2023 Rising Star award and encouraged members in nomination for the 2024 awards. Also, for Sej Deribin, who will rise from her current Sponsorship board position to Vice Chair in 2024.
