Leadership Series Focus: All about the Asphalt in those Asphalt Shingles

Toni Newsome is Owens Corning’s Modified Asphalt Innovation Leader for Roofing Science & Technology (S&T).

She was born and raised in Granville, OH and works in the same town she grew up in while having family close by.  She earned her BS in Chemistry at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at The Ohio State University.

After graduation, she joined Owens Corning as part of the S&T Leadership Program and has since had multiple roles within the Insulation, Roofing & Asphalt businesses within Binder Chemistry, Material Innovation, Product Development, Product Research, Product Testing, Technology Scouting, and Asphalt Innovation.

Toni leads a team responsible for designing asphalt formulations for all 3 growth product platforms in Roofing & Paving. She is the spouse to Bob Newsome of 13 years and a proud mom to four children: Robert (21), Cameron (9), Jackson (6) and Addison (6)
