DEI Committee November Highlights:
Veterans Day, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and Native American Heritage Day

Veterans Day 11/11/21
“How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!” – Maya Angelou.

We are thrilled to highlight two women who have served our great country and our industry. It is an honor to introduce Angelica Brager of the Army National Guard and Elizabeth Evans of the US Army and Florida Army National Guard, respectively, with our NWIR community.

All too often Veterans Day has an immediate masculine connotation, invoking images of men in battle and uniform… but it’s time for a paradigm shift… and we at NWIR are the group to start that change! This month we salute the strong, brave, valiant WOMEN who have defended our freedom and country!

Thank you, Angelica, and Elizabeth, for leading by example and risking your safety and lives for our own. We kindly ask that everyone pause for a moment of reflection to read their features this month.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 11/19/21

“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe.” – Oprah Winfrey

Huge, giant, loud shout out to all the women business owners!! Let’s face it, roofing is hard work no matter your title or position – it’s a tough business. Period. But we have some amazing ladies to feature that have defied odds, worked hard, overcome gender stereotypes, and become entrepreneurs in roofing! Be sure to check out their features this month in celebration of their success!

American Indian Heritage Day 11/26/21

“What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.” – Blackfoot Indian Proverb

In our continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion we stand with the first people of this county and take great pride in celebrating American Indian Heritage. With this effort, we would love to feature women in roofing of Native American descent so we can hear their stories, share their achievements, and celebrate their culture. Please reach out to the DEI committee – we want to hear from you!

Happy Thanksgiving!
As Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude, we want to thank everyone for making this community what is it today – a network of connection, education, recognition, and support.
We’d love to see your holiday celebrations with the hashtag #nwirthanksgiving on social media! Thank you to those whose shared their trick-or-treating, costumes, and Halloween fun with the hashtag #nwirhalloween !

We encourage our NWIR community to foster our goal of diversity, equity, and inclusion by taking the time to learn about these great and notable commemorations this month!

Feel free to contact Jess Cress or Rae July for any further information about the DEI Committee.
