As planes landed and took off behind the Sunset Pub and Grill in Lincoln Park, NJ conversations were inspired by thoughts of career opportunities soaring above the clouds. Prospective members joined an intimate group of Northern New Jersey council leaders for a relaxed evening of networking on May 19, 2022. The theme for the night, Cocktails and Conversation had no set agenda but was one of 4 evenings per year devoted to meet and greets.
As conversations often do, topics ranged covering some of the issues most important to women; including career paths, family, and of course roofing! Those new to the group heard the highlights of April’s meeting. That event was hosted at PB Roofing’s headquarters in Elmwood Park and Sej Sorathia of Capitol Roofing presented the benefits of vegetative overburdens.
The group also discussed the upcoming June 15th meeting where roofing manufacturer GAF will host a tour of their Parsippany, NJ R&D facility. Pre-registration for the GAF event is required and attendees must show a demonstration of vaccination to enter the facility. While just halfway through the year the Northern NJ branch is well on its way to offering a diverse mix of meetings with opportunities to learn about roofing, address topics of importance to women, and network. The group hosts both in-person and virtual events to help address the needs of member schedules.
