On April 4, 2023, the NWiR Canada Council hosted the First Annual NWiR Day! The half-day event took place in Mississauga, Ontario adjacent to the 2023 RoofTech show. We kicked things off with a light lunch before introducing National Women in Roofing and the newly elected Council.

We had the opportunity to recognize past chairs who were in attendance, Stacey Dunn, Past Events Chair, and Lillianne Dunstall, Past-Chair.
We heard from women on the roof and in the boardroom with topics varying from Travel Safety, Mental Health Awareness, How to Find Your Spark and How to Find Success in a Male Dominated Industry. The afternoon concluded with a panel discussion and mentoring circles.
There were so many incredible takeaways from this event, both from Council Members and Attendees. In the conversations had the next day on the tradeshow floor we were thanked by both men and women for attending the show and hosting the event. There were many people who had not heard of National Women in Roofing who stopped by to learn more, to take information back to their employers and find out how they could get involved.
We were approached by so many women on the tradeshow floor as their eyes moved from table to table and locked in when they read “National Women in Roofing” on our banner. As a council we look forward to attending more events where we can connect with others and grow our membership to support the careers of women in the industry.
