About Oregon Council

Tradeswomen Career Fair

Our council exhibited at the Oregon Tradeswomen Career Fair on Student Day. Over 1,500 students were bussed in to learn about exciting career opportunities in the skilled construction trades. We learned the Skanska booth was building birdhouses, so we teamed up with them so we could have attendees roof their birdhouses after! We asked for the measurements ahead of time and with the help of Malarkey Roofing Products, we pre-cut self-adhered cap sheet to fit. We [...]

Beaming with Pride!

We want to thank you all for the support you have given us over the years. The way our council is growing and thriving was clearly seen from the level of participation we had at the NWiR Day. We had a record number of people in attendance, and four people from Oregon presented on different topics. The most noteworthy of all was that our very own Stephanie Baird took home the amazing honor of the NWiR [...]

Annual Christmas Visit

This is our 3rd year in a row that we have spent purchasing everything on Anisa’s Place Christmas wish list. Anisa's Place is a home run through A Village for One in Portland, Oregon. Our team had an amazing time coming together to spread more Christmas magic! People purchased gifts off of the wish list individually and then brought them wrapped to the house for all of the people living there. This home has a special [...]

2022 Operation Christmas Magic

Once again, the NWiR Oregon Council, the Associated Roofing Contractors of Oregon, and Southwest Washington joined forces to provide Christmas gift cards to the children at Margaret Scott Elementary School, located in NE Portland. In 2021, we collectively raised $15,000.00 in gift cards. In 2022 we raised our goal to $20,000 and we exceeded that with a total of $21,600. This amounted to 864 $25 gift cards. This was a HUGE success as these were the [...]

Ms. McNeil’s Classroom Supply Drive!

The Oregon Council spent the month of August gathering classroom supplies for Kindergarten students at Mill Park Elementary. 77% of students here are considered low income and all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch services. All school supplies are provided to students at no cost. However, students are allotted one set of supplies and any additional expenses, including classroom décor, come out of the teacher’s pocket. Christine McNeil has been teaching Kindergarten for nearly two [...]
